Flashes and Floaters
Flashes look like twinkles or curved lightning streaks in the peripheral vision.
They are most visible when the eye quickly moves left and right in a dark environment. Floaters are small flecks or shadows that move in the peripheral or central vision. Most people normally experience a few floaters, but tend to notice them if they become more prominent.
If you have a sudden change in the quality or quantity of your floaters, new "flashers", or if a dark curtain or shadow begins to move toward the center of your vision, we recommend calling our office immediately! You could be experiencing a torn retina, which can lead to retinal detachment. We will see you as an urgent appointment.
